for the 800m (if you’re decently fast): get out fast so you don’t get stuck behind a massive mob. then tuck in behind second or third and pace with them if you can, but leading puts you in a tough spot unless theres literally no competition. if you’re indoors kick on the last two-thirds of a lap (or last half lap if you’re outdoors) - You Know You Run Cross Country When...
