chasingatalanta asked: This past xc season was the first year I ran for high school, and I'm playing soccer right now. After soccer is over, I'm planning to run track, probably the 800 or one mile. My coach told me i need racing flats or spikes for the meets, but i have no idea what I'm supposed to be looking for. My regular running shoes are asics and avias, and I'd apreciate if somebody could...

Hey guys, I turned submissions on!
I’m really wanting some cool running pictures, or any running pictures in general. Try not to submit the “you know you run xc when” ideas, because I have premade posts up to 70ish right now.  So, if you go on our page, the submission link is in the column with all the other links! -Kristin

celesticals asked: Ibuprophen has a lot of negative effects on training. And in general. If possible your best bet is Aleve, though nothing at all is the best when it comes to anti-inflamatories for training.

johnnynguyeny asked: @ Krstin, do you have any suggestions for getting into the minimalist/barefoot running? Atm, i do barefoot strides on grass after every practice and it makes me feel great! But do you have any shoe recommendations other than the vibrams since my coach doesn't allow them for some reason. I was looking at nike frees, the new brooks shoes, and the saucony hattoris. Thanks!

Anonymous asked: For shinsplints, anti-inflammatories, like ibuprofen, also help, not only with the pain but to help reduce the inflammation.

triplem2013 asked: For the runner asking for advice on shin splints when I have them I freeze little dixie cups w/ water & then run them on my shins till completely melted. One for each shin everyday. Then before/after running, and before I went to bed I'd do this strethch where someone would hold my feet down and make me work super hard to get them up. Keeping my heel on the ground the whole time. So...

johnnynguyeny asked: Probably the best treatment for shin splints is ice and rest. If you keep running, it'll only get worse for you. You wanna ice them if you rate the pain 5+. If it's 4 and below, use heat. Make sure you stretch the calves and google some excercises for shins since they do help. If you're new to running, get shoes that are specific to your arch. Mainly, you wanna ice them, pain...

Anonymous asked: Hi, I really love to run even though I'm not that great, and I really want to do cross country, but since track season is starting at my school I figured I would try it and maybe do some mid distance events. However, I got what I think are shin splints. I stayed off them, rested and iced for about 2 weeks but I got frustrated since they weren't getting better and I started running again....

journeytohealthiness asked: I'm an average runner, I would say. My 5k PR is 21:19, my 3200 meter run time is 13:07 & my mile time is 6:10. I have absolutely no sprint speed whatsoever, nor do I run the times that i would really love to be running. Any advice, training plans, etc. that will bring me to a 12:30 two mile & a sub 6 mile by around early to mid April and my 5k down to the low 20s? I'm...

runtolive93 asked: About the Mt. SAC course, yes it really does suck! I had to run it a total of 4 times per year, without doing the footlocker race. Personally I think the hardest part is after going up poop out, what we called no man's land, when you get there the best thing is to force yourself to start thinking about passing people and not about how much your body is suffering at that moment. Just remember...
